In a move to strengthen the practical aspect of the “Librarians” training program, The Only Solution for Training and Consulting organized a field visit to the University of Jordan Library in June 2022. The delegation, which included participants from the Sultanate of Oman and the Institute’s Director, Mr. Hikmat Al-Mestarehi, was warmly received by the Director General of the Jordanian National Library, Professor Dr. Nidal Al-Ahmad Al-Ayasrah.
The visit aimed to enrich the training course by introducing best practices in library management, departmental functions, the nature of work, preservation and documentation of books and manuscripts, archiving and classification of documents and images, as well as the binding of books and newspapers. Participants were able to explore the latest technologies and advanced infrastructure of the library, including modern classification and digitization systems, and effective methods of delivering services to users.
The visit included a detailed tour of the library’s various departments and an exchange of expertise with the staff, alongside discussions about the challenges facing libraries in the digital age and strategies to overcome them.
Mr. Hikmat Al-Mestarehi emphasized the importance of field visits in developing qualified personnel and providing a practical learning environment that prepares trainees to keep pace with rapid advancements in this field. The Director of the University of Jordan Library welcomed the delegation, underscoring the vital role of collaboration between academic and training institutions in transferring experience and expertise.
